With a step height that’s 2″ lower than industry standard, drivers can easily board and exit from the street or curbside. This can make a hard day’s work a little easier and contribute to reduced risk of injury on the job.

Fully installed at the factory and standard on every McNeilus Volterra ZSL electric refuse collection vehicle, this integrated system includes blind-spot monitoring, 360° camera view, forward and rear collision notification, park assist, backup camera, rear cross traffic assist, lane departure warning and advanced emergency braking.
Driver Instrument Panel Display
The 12.3″ digital gauge cluster display keeps the driver informed with speed, odometer, battery regeneration, tire pressure, indicator lights, 360° camera images and more.

McNeilus Zero Radius™ vertical lift arm
The purpose-built vehicle features a 6-foot standard reach arm for dense city routes or a 12-foot reach arm for easy collection near parked cars. Proven, reliable performance for more than a decade for less maintenance and improved TCO.
Tight turning radius
From 57 to 67 feet, depending on configuration, the McNeilus Volterra ZSL lets drivers collect refuse without leaving the cab. It also helps maneuver around cul-de-sacs and tight corners with ease.
Serviceability
Real-time data and vehicle monitoring offers an optimized driver experience with tire pressure monitoring, automated daily checks, cloud-based telematics and DVR capabilities. It also enables condition-based maintenance to help reduce downtime. Serviceable components are accessible from the ground, without climbing or lifting equipment.
Right- and left-hand configurations
The fully integrated, purpose-built McNeilus Volterra ZSL cab can be configured in right- and left-hand drive configurations with seated and standing operator positions.

The purpose-built McNeilus Volterra ZSL can help achieve customer sustainability goals. The vehicle features an electrified drivetrain, e-axle architecture, smart battery system and cooperative regenerative braking to enable an all-day route on a single charge with zero emissions. It is certified by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The McNeilus Volterra ZSL has earned three certifications from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the California Air Resources Board (CARB). This provides customers a solution to achieve their sustainability goals and meet EV requirements.
Electrified Drivetrain
Advanced lithium-ion batteries and an electric-axle system help enable a full day’s refuse collection on a single charge with zero emissions. Plus, the vehicle has a B10 rating of 300,000 miles.
Smart Battery Management System
The intuitive system has advanced load-shedding capabilities based on critical levels and increases the number of battery charge/discharge cycles to preserve battery life. Also, if the remaining battery charge gets too low, the system will limit specific non-essential functions like HVAC.
High Battery Capacity
With a battery capacity approximately 20% higher on average, the vehicle delivers an extended range. This can help to service more homes and complete more routes.
