McNeilus® Volterra™ electric refuse and recycling vehicle recognized as CES 2026 Innovation Award Honoree

Dodge Center, MN (December 4, 2025)McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing, Inc., an Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE: OSK) business, today announced its McNeilus® Volterra electric refuse and recycling vehicle has been recognized as a CES 2026 Innovation Awards Honoree in the Construction and Industrial Tech category. The honor highlights McNeilus’ leadership in electrification, intelligent systems, and advanced manufacturing as part of Oshkosh Corporation’s continued focus on engineering technology that moves the world forward.

Presented by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the CES Innovation Awards program celebrates outstanding design and engineering in technology products that address global challenges and improve everyday life. McNeilus’ recognition marks a milestone for the refuse and recycling industry, reflecting how purpose-built electric vehicles are transforming essential services and sustainability practices in communities worldwide.

“The McNeilus Volterra electric vehicles represent more than just an advancement in technology; it reflects our commitment to shaping the future of refuse and recycling collection,” said Lee Dreas, president of McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing. “From purpose-built solutions and automation to intelligent connectivity, every innovation we deliver is focused on making our customers’ operations safe, efficient, and sustainable.”

Manufactured at McNeilus’ state-of-the-art facility in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, the fully integrated Volterra electric refuse and recycling vehicles combine zero-emission performance with McNeilus’ proven refuse body design. Each vehicle is equipped with an electrified drivetrain, smart battery system, and cooperative regenerative braking, providing all-day route performance on a single charge while managing maintenance requirements and operating costs.

The CES recognition comes during a year of significant investment and expansion for McNeilus. The company recently completed a modernization of its Dodge Center, Minnesota headquarters, introducing Industry 4.0 digital systems, high-flow production lines, robotic paint systems, and end-to-end traceability through a new Manufacturing Execution System (MES). These enhancements support rapid scalability and ensure each refuse and recycling collection vehicle meets the highest quality standards.

Additionally, McNeilus’ Murfreesboro, Tennessee, facility continues to grow as a hub for electric vehicle innovation and production. Purpose-built to support next-generation products like the McNeilus Volterra™ ZSL™ electric side loader and McNeilus Volterra ZFL™ electric front loader, the facility integrates precision assembly processes and advanced quality systems to ensure every truck meets McNeilus’ rigorous performance and safety standards. This year, the Murfreesboro team earned statewide recognition when the Volterra ZSL was named the Coolest Thing Made in Tennessee,” highlighting the innovation, craftsmanship and community pride driving McNeilus’ electrification efforts.

“This honoree award from CES illustrates how far we’ve come in reimagining our products and processes to support the future of collection,” added Dreas. “We’re proud to see McNeilus innovation recognized alongside some of the most groundbreaking technologies in the world.”
